[ one she's very excited for. her room is cluttered and messy with a bookshelf lined up with jars of various bugs, lizards and flower petals in them. the floor is at least cleared, but in one corner of the room there's just a sizable collection of bone scythes from the quest this month. like, over a dozen of them - it's fine.
more importantly, she takes a glass bottle full of thick liquid resembling the color of soot and offers it up to him. ]
[Has she gotten a dozen people to beat up skeletons with her? Probably. She can be very convincing. (Or maybe people are just easily convinced.)
He looks at the liquid for a moment, but he can't place it. So instead he just downs it. There's no way Zelda would go about poisoning him- not that it even crosses his mind.]
[ fantastic. ...however, it will become quickly apparent that aside from tasting a little like ash, the elixir doesn't seem to have any immediate physiologic changes. ]
Thank you kindly. Now one moment.
[ and she steps over to the shelves, grabbing a lantern and a pack of matches to light the candle within. ]
Oh this is so exciting. I think you'll really be pleased.
In my realm, there is a settlement of people called the Gorons who live all the way up in the volcanic mountains of Hyrule. Their bodies are make of rock, and so they can live in highly combustible regions without adverse affects.
However, naturally any travelers cannot go there without catching on fire. The elixir you drank prevents that from happening, making travel safe.
[ a beat, and then- ]
Are you... going to remove your hand any time soon?
Once it starts burning. I want to see how long it lasts. [Plus Lupin gave him some chocolate, so he should be able to restore his HP from getting singed.]
I live near magma, but Hades is suspended above it. We don't really have to worry about falling into it.
It isn't that I don't want to push the limits, but you're also... well, you're not the type to back down. Which can be good, but I don't want you getting hurt either.

[ and she steps aside to let him in and then starts heading up the stairs, expecting him to follow. ]
It won't take very long! I do appreciate your willingness.

[He agreed to being a test subject, but man what's he about to stick in his mouth?]

Here, drink up.

This is a very strange visit.
[Because it has to be said. Not that he's about to leave.]

[ shush!!!
the candle is lit and the lantern is placed on the table, and she steps over to his side. ]
Now put your hand directly over the flame.
[ not normally something she would recommend anyone do, but the fireproof elixir he just drank will work wonders here. ]
no subject
Okay.
He'll put his hand over the flame.]
no subject
Very nice.

He puts his hand directly in the fire.]
What did I drink?
no subject
[ and still his hand doesn't burn! she takes another picture, still grinning wide. ]
Can you believe it? You must when you're seeing it happen before your very eyes. You drank my fireproof elixir.
no subject
He keeps his hand in the flames and waits for it to set on fire.]
It's hard to believe, but it's impossible to deny what's in front of me. That's very clever.

[ it's time to stop. ]
no subject
It wouldn't have hurt much. It's just a little flame.
no subject
[ or does he? she hopes he does and she isn't just generously overestimating his awareness. ]
If you'd like I can make some more for you. This is just one batch of many I plan to make and offer to anyone in town who wants it.

It would certainly be useful. I don't know what's in the forest, but there may be a lava filled area we could need to cross.

Saying things like that is precisely what worries me!

I've survived it just fine.

[ sigh ] --immortal. Though I suppose you effectively are.
[ her argument has already failed before it even got off the ground, damn him. ]
